- William Russell: Did Bill [Hartnell] ever tell you about winning the BAFTA awards?
- Peter Purves: Bill? No. Was it for Doctor Who?
- William Russell: No, The Way Ahead. He played the sergeant, wonderfully. He told me, "I got the award, and then I didn't work for 14 fucking months! Don't accept any awards!"
