K and C’s Top ten favourite the Adventures of Sir Lancelot episodes.
4. The Queen’s Knight.
“You reward them with a Kingdom for their insolence!” Lancelot.
Another black and white episode that makes our top ten and this time Lancelot is in a tizzy when evil Mordred captures Queen Guinevere and locks her away in his castle. Lancelot, her champion, goes to her rescue right away and whilst King Arthur and the others try to talk their way out of the situation, Lancelot poses as a trader to get into the castle.
We love Lancelot’s passion in this one, his anger and drive. From the moment he is informed that Guinevere has been taken, he is shocked and doesn’t even consider a plan, he just races off to save her, no matter the cost. There’s some beautiful shots in this one and we’ve chosen some of our favourite caps, he really does look beautiful in this story. There’s also some really decent fight scenes and even better is that it’s clearly William Russell doing all his own stunts (Some of the later colour episodes you can see those stunt doubles!).
Favourite scene: Lancelot is furious to see Arthur and Merlin bargaining with Mordred. He rants about the injustice of giving him something, despite his wrong doings. Lancelot is enraged and challenges Mordred to a fight to the death. It’s a great scene!
