K and C’s top ten favourite The Adventures of Sir Lancelot episodes:
9. The Roman Wall
“When in Rome, do as the Romans do…and we’re practically in Rome.”- Lancelot.
“…Only 1100 miles away!” -Brian.
So we love this episode for many different reasons. It’s a fun episode where Lancelot and Brian are sent to investigate the kidnapping of a princess at a castle where spirits supposedly roam. Dubious that such spirits exist, Lancelot scales the castle and discovers a secret Roman settlement, the last Roman outpost in Britain.
There’s so many great moments, from Brian being scared of ghosts, to Lancelot fighting in a Roman type arena (in barely any clothing), to the princess who won’t let Lancelot rescue her because she gets better pampering and baths with the Romans. It’s also nice to see Lancelot trying to get involved in Roman culture.
Favourite scene: Brian tries to convince Lancelot that his wine is poisoned. Lancelot never believes his squire! Poor Brian.
