K and C’s top ten favourite The Adventures of Sir Lancelot episodes.
10. Sir Bliant.
“They used to be fine boys, now they’re like raving beasts.” -Sir Bliant.
This episode has William playing three kind of roles. He plays Lancelot, he plays elderly Sir Bliant and he plays Lancelot posing as Sir Bliant. The combination of William’s old man acting and the amusing moments makes this one of our faves.
Using wizardry from Merlin, Lancelot is transformed into old Sir Bliant so he can fight against his unruly sons and get some order back at his castle. We love the way this episode has William Russell playing two parts in the same scene, it’s brilliantly done for 1956 and so funny at times.
Favourite scene: Lancelot and Merlin discuss methods on how to help Sir Bliant. Merlin believes that exploding arrows are the answer and it is actually Lancelot who comes up with the idea. (Not that Merlin would let you think that)
